Welcome! My name is Michael Hahn and I practice advanced hands-on therapies which include Cranial Sacral Therapy in the Fremont area of Seattle, WA. Cranial Sacral Therapy is a gentle hands-on therapy designed to restore proper function and movement to the tissues of the body. When proper function is restored many chronic and painful symptoms are relieved. The body is intelligent and often just needs a bit of help to release scar tissue, trauma and restriction.
The anatomy at the core of Cranial Sacral Therapy includes the spinal cord and brain. Both are wrapped in strong continuous membrane called dura. The dura is attached to the inner surface of the cranial bones, wraps the spinal cord and attaches to sacral bone of the pelvis.
The head is made up of 29 bones. Many of these bones expand at the joints between them due to the cerebral spinal fluid being added and subtracted to the inside of the dural container. This creates a rhythm where the bones of the head expand at the joints a subtle amount on average of 6-12 times a minute.
Working with the Cranial Sacral system can help relieve chronic pain, headaches, back pain, TMJ issues and whiplash injuries to name just a few.
Strains in the dura, the joints of the head and actually anywhere in the body can reduce the the cranial sacral rhythm and cause pain and dysfunction. I use hands-on assessments that determine where the key restrictions are and then use gentle techniques to restore proper function. People often experience a rapid sense of relief during the sessions and/or in the days and weeks that follow.
I have extensive training in Hellerork, Visceral Manipulation and Cranial Sacral Therapy. These modalities are not independent of each other. Understanding how our anatomy should function is at the root all this work. So many people ask me, are you practicing Cranial Sacral Therapy? or Visceral Manipulation? or Hellerwork? The only answer I have is yes to all of them. My intention is to seamlessly synthesize all that I have studied over the years and offer the most effective solution to the aches and pains many of us experience.
